How to Use Tap to Pay on iPhone with eMobile

Before You Begin
- Device Compatibility: iPhone XS or newer, running iOS 15.5 or later.
- Account Setup: Tap to Pay is available with eMobilePOS eXpress, eMobilePOS, and IVUPOS.
- Transaction Limits: Be aware of regional limits and cardholder verification requirements. For higher-value transactions, consider using digital wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay.
- Phone Case Tips: Remove physical cards from your phone case to avoid accidental charges. You can also disable NFC in your iPhone settings when not processing payments.
Set up Tap to Pay on iPhone
Prerequisites for Tap to Pay on iPhone
- Set a Device Passcode
If you haven’t already, set a passcode for your iPhone by going to Settings > Face ID & Passcode.
Note: Tap to Pay on iPhone requires a device passcode. - Check iOS Version
Ensure your iPhone is running iOS 15.5 or higher. To check for updates, go to Settings > General > Software Update. - Sign in to Your iPhone
If you’re not already signed in, go to Settings > Sign in to your iPhone. If you’re signed in, your name will appear at the top of the Settings screen.
Enable Tap to Pay on iPhone
You can enable Tap to Pay at any time through the eMobilePOS App. Follow these steps:
- Open the eMobilePOS App and sign in to your account.
- Navigate to Settings > Admin Settings > Included Payment Methods.
- Select Tap to Pay and toggle it on.
- Verify the correct Apple ID is displayed. If not, select Use a Different Apple ID.
- Tap Agree & Continue to activate Tap to Pay on your iPhone.
Once enabled, the banner at the top of the screen will display ✓ Tap to Pay. All team members under the same account with eligible devices will automatically gain access to Tap to Pay on iPhone.
Manage Tap to Pay Settings on iPhone
- Update iOS: Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 15.5 or higher. Check for updates in Settings > General > Software Update.
- Set a Passcode: If you haven’t already, set a passcode in Settings > Face ID & Passcode.
- Sign in to Your iPhone: Verify you’re signed in by checking if your name appears at the top of the Settings screen.
Disable Tap to Pay on iPhone
If you no longer wish to use Tap to Pay, you can disable it at any time:
- Open the eMobilePOS App.
- Go to Settings > Admin Settings > Included Payment Methods.
- Select Tap to Pay and toggle it off.
How to Accept Contactless Payments

Accepting Contactless Payment Cards
To accept payments from contactless debit and credit cards, look for the EMV® Contactless Indicator on the customer’s card. Present your mobile device to the customer and ask them to hold their card horizontally over the tap area for a few seconds until the transaction is complete.

Accepting Digital Wallets and Wearables
Steps to Process Payments:
- Tap Check Out in the eMobilePOS app.
- Select Tap to Pay on iPhone and open the SecurePay prompt.
- Have the customer hold their card or device to the front of your iPhone. A beep will confirm a successful transaction.
